Happy Birthday to Me!

With the kitchen renovation going on, our home is a mess, and I needed a break from it all. With my birthday in between Christmas and New Years, my husband suggested we go away for a night and what a great idea. We headed to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino at Foxwoods in CT http://www.mgmatfoxwoods.com/. Besides a wonderful dinner, royal treatment at the G Spa at MGM and a birthday present surprise, the hotel interiors are pretty fabulous. I couldn't help but take a few photos when we were checking in to the hotel. I'm sure a few people thought I was crazy, but I had to document the interiors. The hotel lobby makes quite a statement and the use of materials is so eye catching. I absolutely love the multi-story glass mosaic water feature wall behind the check-in desk as well as the layered wood and metal reception desk facade, just amazing! The light fixtures aren't too shabby either. I'm sure one of those light fixtures could pay for my entire kitchen renovation. Our room was very nice. First, they used my favorite color combination, blue and brown. The bathroom was very spa-like. I loved the sink faucet and lighting built-in to the mirror.

....and then there was my birthday surprise. This topped everything off, a gorgeous sapphire and diamond ring. The beautiful blue gem is straight from Afghanistan. Happy Birthday to me!
